After a long career playing for McLaren Vale and McLaren Football clubs and more recently at the Willunga as Reserves Player and three in a row Reserves Premiership Coach, Steve Jaggard has returned to Willunga Football Club to take on the Senior Coaches role.
Steve has a long and full football resume including playing “A” grade at McLaren Vale when he was just seventeen and going on to South Adelaide where he played in the 1987 Nissan Cup. He then went on to Captain McLaren Vale in 1988 and played Association for Southern Football League and Reserves at the Panthers.
Jaggard then came to Willunga in 1993 and captained the “A” grade and played in the GSFL Association side. He returned to McLaren Vale in 1995 until 2004 playing “A” grade and coaching the Under 14s and then Under 16s to Premiership wins as well as playing in McLaren first wining Premiership side in 2003 since their amalgamation and entry into the GSFL.
Apparently retiring from playing in 2005 he went to South Adelaide to help with development squads, coached the Panthers Under 17 side and in 2007 was appointed McLaren “A” grade coach.
He then came back to Willunga where he resumed his playing career and coached the Reserves to three straight flags.
For the last three years Jags has been at South Adelaide working with the Under 16, 17 and 18 squads in various coaching and mentoring roles and was heavily involved with South’s Academy program especially in Midfield Coaching roles.
Steve is a natural and excellent with young players and has a way of adding humour to otherwise serious situations.
