Message from 'The Pres'

23 August 2017

What an impressive minor round we have had as a club, I would like to congratulate all coaches, players and playing staff for their commitment and performance throughout the year...all grades finishing top of the ladder, an amazing achievement and as a club we should be very proud!!

The U 10's finished up on the weekend much to the disappointment of 40 odd footy mad juniors! It was amazing to see the development of these players during the year, the enjoyment factor is off the Richter every week, not all fueled by Keith Neville's lolly bribes but also by the level of engagement the kids have enjoyed... A big thanks goes out to Keith, Ben Baxter & Ronnie for coaching the groups, in addition to our traditional perception of coaching, these guys have given fantastic guidance and encouragement to this age group of players, invaluable stuff to young footy grommets. Thanks to Ben Thompson for umpiring and sorting the little games on field, not too much back chat happening there! AND finally to the parents helping out at training - Great effort, you can tell the kids love it.

The Under 12's also capped off a great season with a win in the carnival round held at Willunga on Sunday, they now play Myponga Sellicks on Saturday at Willunga (Semi final 8:30 start). Well done to David Hams, Matty Bennett & Pete Hoek for coaching and managing the team to the chocolates & through out the year, great team work by the boys on display yesterday.

Thanks also to Ro Hoek for managing the carnival running sheet for the day (neatest hand writing on a white board ever!).

Craig Martin, Darren Austin and Damion Burns for the BBQ bar expertise and our amazing canteen crew who had an big weekend with both Saturday and Sunday shelling out the goods! Thanks Kelly & Scott Wadewitz, Sarah Moore, Kylie Scott Smith and Karen Jacobs.

As the great Austin Powers once said "Stage 1 Completed'.  Now we reset and give the finals our focus.

Firstly off field..... Saturday August 26th is an important day for the club, we are hosting the first of the finals for the GSFL, and we will be operating the canteen, BBQ Bar and an additional top side bar and BBQ to cater for the finals crowd. Please if you are available to spend some time in these areas it will be a massive help to our regular champions that will be operating on the day. Please ring me on 0428 824 504 to put your name on a help list, lock in an hour and a half shift and give the club a hand on the day... thank you.

Following this, our club is strongly represented on Saturday September 2nd at Langhorne Creek. All grades playing in the second semifinal (pending u12's result) ...So get decked out in your white and red head to the creek and make soooooome noooooise!

Look forward to catching up over the coming weeks.
